I feel which you can do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but rather of that, this really is amazing weblog. A amazing read. I believe the lack of funding for adequate mental health treatment in this country is directly due to stigma. As you said, too, there are a lot of films we should boycott. I refuse to see things like "The Crazies" or "Shutter Island", which make those of us who live with mental illnesses out to be subhuman freaks of nature. I don't understand why such films are still considered socially acceptable.

I think it's important for those of us with blogs like yours and mine to talk about stigma. I'm so glad that you write your blog and give people a glimpse into what life is like with Schizophrenia, and even if you don't talk about it with anyone in your offline life, you are making an impact in combatting stigma by talking about it here.

I have become more vocal in the past couple years, even speaking in public about my mental illness, but I was not always able to do that.

I still don't talk about it at all with anybody where I work. I still have the fear of disclosure to the wrong people and the results that can have. But, as you said, the more we can speak out, the less stigma there will be.Feminist Voice with Disabilitieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04971702402040080054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7239140084937897595.post-61992872349037749392010-10-24T18:00:53.845-04:002010-10-24T18:00:53.845-04:00Hi Kate,

I posted it in the wee hours last night.

As alwaqys I look forward to reading your blogs. My second SharePost at the Connection will be about universal health care.

Regards,
ChrisChrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15705538654048829908noreply@blogger.com
