A Recovery Blog

This blog is about my continuing recovery from severe mental illness and addiction. I celebrate this recovery by continuing to write, by sharing my music and artwork and by exploring Buddhist and 12 Step ideas and concepts. I claim that the yin/yang symbol is representative of all of us because I have found that even in the midst of acute psychosis there is still sense, method and even a kind of balance. We are more resilient than we think. We can cross beyond the edge of the sane world and return to tell the tale. A deeper kind of balance takes hold when we get honest, when we reach out for help, when we tell our stories.

The Sixth Commandment Of The Ten Commandments

 THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT

The sixth Commandment of the Torah is: Thou Shalt Not Kill. Which means no killing people or animals. Yet, sick, clever men (teachers of "The Law") changed the word "Kill" to "Murder" in accordance with their will to legitimize killing for some as "legal" and other killing as "morally" wrong. They didn't and don't even stop for a second to consider that God meant no killing, period.

Mentally ill human men's interpretation has allowed for thousands of years of war and kept and keeps violence as "righteous" when it suited or suits them.

And if they have been wrong all this time since Moses? And if being non violent had been practiced as something sacred and Holy? What would our world (God's beautiful Eden planet) be like now? Is our way of accepting violence "Holy" and God's way foolish, o wise men, wise "teachers of the law"?
